On occasion, posts will be added to highlight some of those individual and collaborative great works that contribute to our collective good. These posts will be called The Gathering Storm. Our third feature in The Gathering Storm is called: Second Generation Cyclones: Coach Shane and Coach Nolan.
Coach Shane and Coach Nolan are ahead of their time in more ways than one.
Long before our 12U players chose the name Cyclones to best represent themselves and the way we approach playing Pressure Baseball and almost a decade before we had the notion of bringing together a team of amazing young men and excellent athletes, Nolan played for the 12U Storm Club Baseball Cyclones. Here is a photo of Coach Nolan on the mound when he played 12U.

Coach Shane and Coach Nolan have been instrumental to the growth and development of our players. Both have helped coach at almost every practice we’ve had since our team formed. Starting with our first team scrimmage this past fall, a game against the Outsiders in Oregon, both Shane and Nolan helped each upcoming Cyclones’ pitcher and catcher as they warmed up off the field.
Coach Nolan has helped in so many ways. During games in our Beloit tournament, Coach Nolan again got our upcoming pitchers warmed up. In practices and scrimmages Nolan has filled in on defense, been the runner for a run-down, and worked one on one with a player on a baseball fundamental. Nolan has been working with our base runners on getting good reads, leads, and breaks. During Winter training, Coach Nolan took the lead with fitness and conditioning, an area that will lead to the most important health benefits for our players and an area that will help our Cyclones elevate their game. Nolan does all the drills with our players, and our players clearly enjoy working with him.
Coach Shane has helped in every facet of the game. Not only has he helped our hitters, pitchers, base runners, and fielders, he brings a calm and steady teaching approach that our players respect and respond well to. Lately Shane has taken the lead with defensive fundamentals, positioning, and defensive team communication. Our individual and team defense is becoming a growing strength, with great leadership from Coach Shane.
Robin has added her amazing photography talent and effort for our team and families, taking photos throughout our April 17-18 Beloit tournament that were simply amazing. Check out this awesome family photo in Cyclones gear!

Thank you to Coach Shane and Coach Nolan for everything you’ve done to help our players and team!
